Excellence Awards
Each year the New Jersey Technology Education Association
recognizes outstanding programs, teachers and administrators
in the field of Technology Education. If you know someone
who you feel is an outstanding teacher, runs an outstanding
program, or is an outstanding supervisor/administrator please
fill out the nomination form below. The nominee must be a registered
NJTEA member. The winner in each category will
be honored at our annual state conference year and will also
be our association’s choice to receive international
recognition at the International Technology Education Association
award ceremony. Outstanding people in the field of Technology
Education should be recognized and this is your chance to do
that.
Five Star Technology Education Program Citation

Utilizing the document Assessing Technology
Education Programs (available through NJTEA), a team of Technology
Education professionals will visit and meet with the Technology
Education teachers in your school to collaboratively examine
the detailed rubrics noted in the document. A written summary
will be provided after the visit. Technology Education programs
that meet the criteria detailed in the guide or have a plan
of action for doing so will be recognized as a 5 Star Exemplary
Technology Education Program. "5 Star" programs will be noted in NJTEA
publications and media for a period of five years and will
receive promotional materials for display. The 5 Star
Exemplary Technology Education Program is open to all New Jersey
schools and districts. Each year, a limited number of citations
will be given to exemplary elementary, middle, and high school
Technology Education Programs. A fee of $300 is required at
the time of application. This fee is used to cover administration
costs and visiting committee member substitute teacher pay.
Future Technology Educator Scholarship
NJTEA provides $500 scholarships to graduating high school
seniors that are current residents of New Jersey and that have
gained acceptance to an accredited technology education teacher
preparation program. A supporting recommendation from
a NJTEA member is required.
Image Award
This award honors individuals within the membership of NJTEA
that make a special effort that results in positive reflection
of Technology Education outside of the profession. Whether
it be through a single act or concentrated effort over a period
of time, these individuals are worthy of recognition as exceptional
educators that realize that leadership and advocacy is needed
for the profession beyond the walls of their classroom. These
individuals’ actions have had a positive impact on the
image of the Technology Education profession in New Jersey
by helping to spread the word about the benefits of technological
literacy for all students.
Impact Award
This award honors exceptional supporters of Technology Education
in New Jersey in three categories: Individual, Institutional,
and Government Official. Recipients have made a notable impact
through their virtuous support for students and/or educators
in technology education. Honorees generally, though
not always, come from outside of the immediate profession of
technology education and have a proven track record of advocating
the benefits of technological literacy for all students in
New Jersey schools.
Innovative Technology Educator Awards
The Innovative Technology Educator Award will honor six New Jersey Technology Education Teachers for outstanding dedication and innovation in the field of Technology Education. STEM Awards
The New Jersey Technology Education Association is proud to announce a grant opportunity. The grant has been built around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The grant is geared to support a STEM activity with the purchase of materials or equipment needed.
The selection will be done at the end of this school year and awarded over the summer or early September to make the funds available as soon as possible for planning and ordering.
Please take the time to review the application and apply. The deadline is May 31, 2009.
NJTEA Teacher Inspiration Award
The Teacher Inspiration Award is awarded to a middle or high school Technology Education Teacher each year who has inspired a student’s interest in the areas of design, technology, or engineering. In order to receive this honor, a teacher must be nominated by one of their students. In general, teachers seek no recognition but simply do the job for the love of the students and the profession. Consider your Technology Education teacher for such an honor. This award could be the highlight of his or her career!
